Ideas For Science Fair Electricity Projects

Science Fair Electricity

In the 21st century those citizens of developed nations often take for granted their access to electricity. We all simply flip a switch and have all manner of electrical gadgets at our disposal. In the last couple of decades these opportunities have grown to include communications across the globe via the Internet. All of this is possible due to our access to electricity and other forms of power. While this has been around over 100 years now, science fair electricity projects are still some of the favorites for students. Many of us who use electricity every day have no idea how or why this works. We are clueless about the science of protons, electrons, and neutrons while reaping their benefits on a daily basis. Students who choose science fair electricity projects are not among the uneducated! They are some of the brightest students who are able to understand the invisible processes required to make the light bulb come on when the switch is flipped up and go off when it is flipped down.

Science fair electricity demonstrations are some of the most interesting at the event. While some projects involve computer graphics or visual representations of the processes that the student has studied, science fair electricity allows for hands on experience. Students who make presentations for science fair electricity events can give live demonstrations of the nature of their subject. There will be groups of students and parents gathered around for a chance to participate in these experiments. All spectators will want to place their hand on the static electricity ball just so their hair will go flying in all directions. Other braver spectators will volunteer to touch their tongue to a potato that they are sure will not shock them. This is always a great crowd pleaser when students get their parents and teachers to volunteer for mild but unpleasant shock!

While all science fair projects hold interest, the science fair electricity projects are definitely the liveliest! Students can use sensation, light and sound to demonstrate their science fair electricity project findings. Students, teachers and parents alike will leave the event with a greater understanding of the properties of electricity by learning the concepts in hands on, or tongue on, fashion!
